Consultation: SODEC - Networking
Canada has been sending some phenomenal talent to the UK over the past few years, strategically timed to make the most of spring-time industry festivals such as The Great Escape, FOCUS Wales and a variety of networking events along the way.
A new opportunity was presented by SODEC this year, with a day dedicated to integrating Quebec-based music companies into the UK music scene, featuring company presentations, speed meetings, a reception and a show at the Old Blue Last in Shoreditch.
My long-time friends Sarah Shoucri and Jean-Philippe Sauvé brought me on board to help with connections to the UK industry, and to make sure that the Québécois companies and artists in attendance were meeting relevant, exciting contacts ahead of making their way to TGE. Big thanks to them both for inviting me to help out with the event - I’m a big believer that networking events are most successful when time and effort is spent to identify relevant contacts, and to create a setting where people can meet on an even footing. So this was a great event to be a part of, and I hope it’ll continue in future years.
