Francine Gorman is a music industry consultant, curator, creative strategist, event producer and editor based in London, England. 

Having trained as a music journalist at Paris-based music and culture magazine Les Inrockuptibles, Francine headed to London in 2011 to become the Features Editor of new music website The Line of Best Fit, going on to join music video platform Vevo as a their French Content Manager in 2012.

Parallel to these two roles, Francine also became the Editor of new Nordic music platform Ja Ja Ja and a booker for their monthly club nights in London and Berlin. Expanding her role in the Nordic music scene, Francine became the overall Project Manager of the Ja Ja Ja live series and the Editor of the Nordic Playlist platform from 2013 until 2020, and continues to collaborate with the Nordic Music Export (NOMEX) on a regular basis.

Francine established her consultancy company Bad Rituals Ltd. in 2017, through which she operates her various projects.

Francine was the Pledge Coordinator and Project Manager of the international gender equity campaign Keychange between 2017 and 2023, winning the LIVE Workforce Award for work on the project, as well as receiving a nomination for ‘Campaigner of the Year’ at the Music Week Women In Music Awards.

For over five years, she also worked as the Nordic & Baltic Editor for streaming service Deezer.

Today, Francine is the Conference Coordinator for The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, overseeing the extensive conference programme and collaborations, as well as the ELEVATE talent development programme.

She is also the Producer of the Soho Calling showcase night for ILMC, a multi-venue new music event taking place across Soho’s iconic stages each February.

And staying true to her journalist roots, Francine has been the author of Music Ally’s music marketing Sandbox Guides since 2023. She is also the co-editor of the annually published Touring Business Handbook, and a frequent contributor to IQ Mag’s reports, including the Global Arena Guide, Touring Entertainment Report, International Ticketing Report and the Global Promoters Report.

Other recent Bad Rituals clients have included the MMF, Music Leaders Network, Chamber Music Scotland, PRS Foundation, TheWRD, ENKI Music, Here Design, Music Export Denmark, and Music Norway.

Throughout her career, Francine has been a dedicated champion of new and emerging music, appearing in this capacity as a guest speaker on BBC Radio 1 (UK), KEXP (US) and Sveriges Radio (Sweden) among many others.

She is an activist for gender equity throughout the music industry and is an advocacy strategist, having spoken at numerous universities, conventions and events such as by:Larm (Norway), SXSW (US), Iceland Airwaves (Iceland), The Great Escape (UK), MaMA Conference (France) and Reeperbahn Festival (Germany) addressing topics including representation, issues facing the live industry, the impact of streaming services, as well as offering strategic advice for artists looking to work in new territories.

Francine is a member of the BRIT Awards Voting Academy, a dedicated mentor to a number of incredible musicians and industry professionals, and a frequent guest lecturer and speaker on a number of topics in the music business.

Outside of Bad Rituals, Francine can be found writing stories, practising yoga, exploring, and watching Huddersfield Town.
